Kumul Lodge is one of the best known landowner eco-tourism lodges in Papua New Guinea. Made out of local materials, entirely owned and managed by local people and employing local guides you can be sure that your money is helping to support the people of the immediate area.

Our presence here helps to preserve the surrounding forest as a home for some of the most beautiful and unusual birds in the world. We are working to raise local environmental awareness and in time hope that our ongoing efforts will lead to the area being declared a National Park.

Located at an altitude of 2861m (8585 Ft) above sea level, the Kumul Lodge is beautifully set deep in the rainforests of the upper highlands of Papua New Guinea, on the Engan side of the provincial border between Enga and the Western Highlands.

Over the years we have become a safe haven and habitat for the most rarest of both flora and fauna species. The Kumul Lodge is well known for its excellent bird watching, as it is one of the fewest places in the world where over 10 Birds of Paradise can be viewed at such close range from right outside our famous Birding Balcony.
